After a year-long hiatus from my crochet addiction hobby, I’m picking up the hook again to make this stunning blanket for my daughter’s room. I can’t wait to see it all come together, but for now… here’s a sneak peak of the colours I’m using and the adjustments I’ve made to the base pattern by Red Heart.
Colour Combinations
We started with a photo of the original blanket and a quick (ish) trip to Michael’s. She really wanted all of the flowers to be the same colours (white with a yellow center), so we landed on the Loops & Threads “Soft Classic” yarn in these four colours:

Sizing Adjustments
Since I have nowhere near the amount of patience required to make 120 granny squares for the original pattern, I decided to make a smaller version using only 63 squares. Since each square measures about 5.5″, my final blanket will be approximately 38.5″ x 49.5″ – we’ll see if this works out or not, but for now it’s the plan I’m rollin’ with. Here’s how I envision it coming together in the end:

Four Unique Motifs
To make this version of the pattern, I’ll need:
- 18 Squares of Motif #1
- 14 Squares of Motif #2
- 14 Squares of Motif #3
- 17 Squares of Motif #4
That’s a grand total of 63 squares! Phewph, that’s still a lot of squares isn’t it?!
Stay tuned for progress updates and IRL images soon.
